Lenoir-Rhyne’s Brandon Padgett Named South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher Of The Week
Freshman from Statesville, N.C., pitched 9.2 innings of scoreless baseball to lead Lenoir-Rhyne to three wins in four games this week
Rock Hill, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne College’s Brandon Padgett has been named South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher Of The Week, league officials announced today.
Padgett, a freshman from Statesville, N.C., pitched nine and two-thirds innings of scoreless baseball in leading L-R to a 3-1 week.
After pitching a scoreless inning against Erskine Tuesday, Padgett did not allow a run in 8.2 innings Saturday in a 1-0 victory over No. 6 Tusculum in the first game of a doubleheader. Padgett scattered seven hits to go along with five strikeouts in helping the Bears to their first win of the year.
Padgett (1-0) currently sports a 1.84 earned run average for the season.
The South Atlantic Conference Baseball Players of the Week are voted on by the league’s eight sports information directors.
