The Lake Norman Copperheads beat the Asheville Red Birds 18-5 in their season opener.  Justin Crowell was the winning pitcher going 6 innings giving up just two runs.  Twelve different Copperheads had hits including three each from Jerod Faggart (Appalachian State) and Cody Buch (UNC-Asheville).  Faggart also hit a three run homer.  The Copperheads will return to action on Wednesday in their home opener at 7:00 at Hopewell High School.  Admission is free that night.
