Kelly McLain has decided to spend another summer in Davidson as a member of the Copperheads.  The Charlotte 49er, led the Copperheads in innings pitched last summer and was second in the league in strikeouts despite getting a late start due to Charlotte going to regionals.  He struck out 50 while only walking 10.  Opponents only managed to hit .211 against the sophomore.  He was named to the leagues all-star game where he threw one scoreless inning,  striking out one without giving up a hit.  With the McLain signing, the Copperheads will return four of there six all-stars from last summer.

"We are very excited to have Kelly returning this summer," commented Coach Derek Shoe.  "We feel like our pitching staff will be much more talented this year and a lot deeper.  Adding McLain to the mix gives us all the more reason to like where our roster is right now," he added.

The Copperheads are still looking for host families this summer.  If you are interested in hosting a player, please contact Derek Shoe at dshoe@copperheadsports.org or by phone at 704-305-3649.
