Wingate, NC-- The Monroe Channelcats began their 2007 season with a successful legends dinner and auction. " I think for the first banquet it was a success. We are trying to bring more to the community and we are hoping the community will support what we are trying to do," stated President Wes Cook.

The banquet featured baseball legend Steve Garvey who spoke about his career and obstacles that he faced during his time in the MLB. " Having Steve come to Monroe was a stepping stone for the Channelcats. He was very impressed with what is going on and he felt that with community support the sky was the limit for the Monroe Channelcats," said Cook.

"I personally would like to thank everyone that came to support the ball team in our first legends dinner and auction. We want to continue to bring events throughout the season and try to make this a big event for Union County and Channelcats Baseball," said Cook.
